Early days
The idea of swan was to a big extent inspired by a WAND project by Prof. Dmitry Postnov. I owe him much.
WAND is a software used in a group of biophysics at Physics department, Saratov State University. It's GUI part is written mostly in TCL/Tk and the core wavelet analysis tool is written in C. To my knowledge, it is not distributed.
I liked the idea, but I was eager to learn how to program things in python, and thought I could develop something just a little bit better.
Thus, I started this project as a from-scratch reimplementation of the ideas behind the WAND I thought to be good. It now seems, that swan has diverged from the original WAND very much.
Now
So far the project is being run by me, Alexey Brazhe. I am a researcher at the department of Biophysics, Biological faculty, Moscow State Univeristy. You can contact me by e-mail: ``brazhe@gmail.com``
I wish there were more authors and developers in this project.
And also
I am happy to acknowledge that the developement greatly benefits from the discussions and tests in our working group, primarily with Nadezda Brazhe and Olga Sosnovtseva.
